There are 11 network regions across the UK, operated by multiple DNOs. Your local DNO ensures that any generation system (like solar panels) connected to the grid can do so safely without overloading the local network.

Who Needs a DNO Application?

Everyone installing a solar PV system must notify or apply to their local DNO.

The type of application depends on the size of your system:

• G98 (formerly G83) applications are for small systems up to 3.68kW per phase. This is a notification rather than a full application and is submitted after installation.

• G99 applications are for systems over 3.68kW per phase. This requires approval before installation and a more detailed application process.
